Shakil graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2015 with a Bachelors in Dental Surgery and passed the MFDS in 2017. He has always had a passion for Endodontics and has recently completed a full-time specialist training programme (DDSc Endodontics) at the University of Liverpool. His doctoral research project focused on the assessment of endodontic case complexity and its application in teaching and clinical practice. Shakil successfully completed his specialty membership examination (MEndo) at the RCS Edinburgh in 2021.
Shakil is currently working as a Specialist Endodontist in various referral practices, as well as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. He has always had a passion for education. As well as his role at the University, Shakil teaches on various private and NHS deanery courses aimed at general dental practitioners and foundation dentists. Furthermore, he is the Founder of Dental Careers Guide, a non-profit providing guidance and CPD to dentists, whilst fundraising for dental aid charities.
